Water and air compliance for healthcare estates.

Birmingham Water Solutions delivers water hygiene, Legionella compliance and ventilation cleanliness for NHS trusts, private hospitals, dental groups and care providers — to HTM 04-01, HTM 03-01 and the augmented care risk framework.

Sector challenges

Why healthcare is different.

Every sector has its own compliance edge cases — the bits that catch out a generalist water treatment provider. Here are the four we design our healthcare programmes around.

Augmented care

Tighter Legionella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungal monitoring for neutropenic, neonatal and ICU populations.

Continuous occupation

Disinfection, calorifier cleaning and AHU work has to fit around 24-hour occupancy and infection-control planning.

Evidence at audit

CQC, NHS Estates and trust-side audit cycles all want a single defensible compliance record per site.

Water Safety Group reporting

Monthly or quarterly Water Safety Group support, attendance and reporting in your preferred format.

Standards we work to

The compliance map for healthcare.

HTM 04-01Safe water in healthcare premises — including augmented care, design, control and audit.
HTM 03-01Specialised ventilation for healthcare premises — operating theatres, isolation, decontamination.
ACOP L8Legal underpin — duty holder obligations under the H&S at Work Act.
HSG274 Pt 2Hot and cold water hygiene monitoring.
BS7592Sampling for Legionella — methodology for evidence sampling.
Frequently asked

Answered by engineers.

Do you understand augmented care risk?
Yes. Augmented care includes neutropenic, neonatal, burns, transplant, ICU and dialysis areas where water-borne pathogens — Legionella, Pseudomonas, Stenotrophomonas, atypical mycobacteria — represent a clinical risk. Our healthcare programmes include the tighter monitoring, point-of-use filtration, more frequent disinfection and clinical liaison these areas require.
Can you attend Water Safety Group meetings?
Yes — many of our NHS clients have us attend monthly or quarterly WSG meetings as the competent water treatment specialist. We present the compliance data, highlight exceptions, recommend remedials and minute the actions back into the trust's records.
Are your engineers DBS-checked and inducted for healthcare?
Yes. All our healthcare engineers are DBS-checked, asbestos-aware and trained in infection prevention and control. We work to trust-side induction, including isolation working, contamination control and dignity-around-patients.
Can you mobilise across an NHS framework?
Yes. We hold framework agreements and work as a subcontractor on most major FM and M&E frameworks. Single-trust contracts and multi-trust portfolios both — same engineers, same evidence record.
